Choral Workshop Day Featuring Vivaldi’s Gloria – 24th June 2023
Following the success of our Duruflé Requiem event, we return to the the church of St. Vedast Alias Foster for another workshop day, this time featuring Vivaldi’s Gloria RV589.
One of at least three settings of the Gloria in Excelsis, from the eucharistic liturgy, RV589 is by far the most popular.
It’s a very familiar work to most people although it remained relatively unknown until 1939, when Alfredo Casella included it in his “Vivaldi Week” in Siena.
We will be presenting it with accompaniment from a string quartet, in this fabulous accoustic.
The Gloria is, of course, well known. Our main focus for the day will be teaching you to perform it with the very best of your voice, by helping you to improve your vocal technique, your performance technique and your mindset as a singer, using this exquisite piece as an aid.
The price includes the course itself, music hire and tea, coffee and biscuits in the breaks.
We will ask you to arrive at 10.30 am for an 11am start. The lunch break will be from 1pm – 2.30pm, and we will have a final run-through at 5pm. The event will be finished by 6pm.
This represents a great chance to come and enjoy singing in this wonderful building, in the shadow of St. Paul’s Cathedral, with its many nearby cafes and restaurants.
Come and join us for what promises to be a fantastic day.
