Evensong At Tewkesbury with Barry Rose

21st September 2019

Tewkesbury 1 Barry Rose Tewkesbury 3

Choral Holidays is delighted to announce a one day event to sing Choral Evensong at Tewkesbury Abbey under the expert guidance of the legendary Dr Barry Rose, former Organist and Choirmaster of St. Paul’s Cathedral, St. Alban’s Cathedral and Guildford Cathedral. For Choral Holidays to have someone of the calibre of Barry to lead one of our courses is a major coup and we are extremely pleased to be able to give this opportunity to singers of all levels.

Tewkesbury Abbey is now a parish church but was formerly a Benedictine monastery and is one of the finest examples of Norman architechture to be found in Britain today. It is the perfect place to host a day such as this.

We will begin at 11am, with a lunch break at 1pm and then work until evensong at 5pm.The day will finish at about 6pm.

The music will be provided for you and will feature C.V. Stanford’s Justorum Animae, Ayleward Responses, Sumsion in G Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis and Basil Harwood’s anthem O How Glorious is the Kingdom

Our organist for the day will be Tomos Watkins who many of you will already know from our training day at Black Jacks Mill.

The fee for the day, which is non refundable, is £30.00. Accommodation is not included.

We are so excited about this course. Surely there are few people in the world with more knowledge and experience in this field, and from whom one can learn so much. We look forward to welcoming you there.
