Choral Holidays - Singing in wonderful locations

Christchurch Priory 24th - 28th July 2017

We are delighted to announce our second trip to Christchurch Priory.
Located in the town centre, just a short walk from the beautiful Dorset coast, Christchurch Priory provides an ideal venue for a Choral Holiday. Although a parish church, it is larger than a number of English cathedrals, and has the longest nave of any church in the country. Construction began over 900 years ago, on the site of an existing priory. This magnificent building contains a memorial to the poet Shelley along with a peerless set of misericords and a legend about a mysterious beam in the roof.

Guests will arrive on Monday 24th July in order to prepare for Evensong on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The great thing about this holiday is that we get to rehearse for each of the settings thoroughly, but as there is only one service on any given day it’s all fairly relaxed. The music will be varied, with something to please all tastes.

By spending five days immersed in the Evensong preparations we will be able to enjoy the feeling of becoming part of the Priory’s history and its long choral tradition. There will be an afternoon rehearsal on the first day, with morning and afternoon rehearsals on the days of the services.

The price of the holiday includes your music and your tuition. It does not include food or accommodation, to enable our guests to tailor the trip to their own budget. We will organise group meals for those who wish to partake. Further information about staying in and around Christchurch can be found here

The music list is as follows:

There is a growing body of evidence which claims that singing as part of a group can have a range of health benefits, particularly in a building as glorious as Christchurch Priory, so book now for what promises to be a spirit-lifting Choral Holiday.

The music list is yet to be chosen but will include something for all tastes.

We look forward to welcoming you on this holiday.
